Sigrid Hausen
Sigrid Hausen studied at the Mozarteum in Salzburg with Nikolaus Harnoncourt, among others, and attended master classes in singing and historical performance practice with M. Figueras and E. Kirkby.
In 1985 she co-founded the renowned medieval music ensemble ESTAMPIE, with whom she has subsequently toured as a solo vocalist in Germany and abroad, recording numerous successful CDs.
The musicians involved in this ensemble have continually staged innovative productions integrating music with dance, theater, and performance along with photographic and light art. These productions have won frequent grants from the Bavarian Ministry of Culture and Munich’s Cultural Affairs Department.
Sigrid Hausen has appeared with ESTAMPIE at the Landshut Hofmusiktage, the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival, the Flanders Festival, the Heidelberg Schlossfestspiele, and a host of other events.
In 1991 she co-founded a second ensemble called QNTAL, a formation that fuses medieval with avantgarde pop music. A specialist in early music, Hausen sings in a number of old languages, including Old French, Old Provençal and Middle High German. QNTAL’s six CDs to date have made the charts several times, and Sigrid Hausen has sung with this exceptional ensemble at festivals in Spain, Portugal, the US, The Netherlands, Belgium etc.
